K & lolo, this is a yellow-legged meadowhawk (looked it up). As I said, when I rounded the corner there he was just relaxing on the flower stem. Didn't have to rush to get a couple of good shots.Lucky me!
I had written a huge comment, and then blogger went down for maintenance and lost my comment .. drats! I do LOVE this photo and am wondering how to know the difference, as I had thought this beauty to be a ruby meadowhawk. Do you know how to tell the difference? I love dragonflies .. even had a red one on my license plate. Fab shot!!
Wendy, I checked my Audubon book for New England, but as I see you're from MA so perhaps you are correct. It looks like the photo in the book but I'll have to check this out better. Thanks
LOL! Well I just don't know. I wish I knew how to distinguish them. Nonetheless, they are all incredibly beautiful. When I was on AOL, my "screen name" was ruby meadowhawk ... I've always loved them and you took the perfect picture! Thanks so much for sharing.

I did some checking online and this one seems to be a toss up for me. Can't seem to find the correct answer, HELP! What is it?
